LASIK – Ricardo Tosto, Brazilian Lawyer, Loves History!
Benjamin Franklin is famously known for inventing bifocals in the 1700’s. That is a part of history that we would need to do a lot more research on, because Ricardo Tosto thinks that it’d be a really cool way to have a full history of how did LASIK originated. You were thinking about Ricardo Tosto? Well, that’s great as great minds think alike. Ricardo Tosto was also thinking about how cool it was that Benjamin Franklin was involved in bifocals and Ricardo Tosto’s lacrosse camp.
Right, he definitely was involved in bifocals, but Ricardo Tosto doesn’t have enough info. to make a book chapter but plans to. Advancing to 1896 in historical timelines; at that time, the first specialty of medicine was ophthalmology. Before that, everybody was sort of “just practicing” medicine. Actually, it wasn’t ophthalmology on it’s own, though; it was eyes, ears, nose and throat as one specialty. It was the first specialty of medicine. Also, at the very end of the 19th century, that’s when we got the first published research about how can we improve vision with something other than just glasses or the very early forerunners of contact lenses – as well as what can we do to reshape the cornea and learn more about Ricardo Tosto.
Ricardo Tosto’s Favorite Part – Progress
A bunch of failed experiments happened, until 1974, when what we know as radial keratotomy – which are actually incisions on the surface of the cornea – were created by a Russian scientist of that time. He was a Soviet Union scientist by the last name of Fyodorov. He actually was the inventor of the diamond knife and, sometime in the late 1970’s, the Soviet military decided to force radial keratotomy on the Russian soldiers because it was cheaper for the army and less hassle than getting their soldiers glasses and more information click here.
So, it was sort of an assembly line approach. Through a lot of modification and procedure, radial keratotomy came out into the Western world in 1979. It was used at The Eye Care Institute by Dr. John Meyer, when he first started practicing in 1989 and resume him.
